How EKO Q works?

EKO Q is SaaS product designed to answer the question “Can I trust my solar data?”

The Q in the name stands for “Quality” — a sensor data verification service designed to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and bankability of solar irradiance measurements. It uses advanced algorithms and trusted correlative data to benchmark the performance of on-site sensors.

Data quality is a crucial factor for every stage of solar project success: from pre-construction to ongoing operations. EKO Instruments provides EKO Q service to bridge the gap between sensor measurement and actionable insights, ensuring data reliability for:

  • Project developers during Pre-construction yield assessments
by checking if sensors are installed and working properly before using the data for performance evaluation and risk assessment
  • EPCs & system integrators in Performance benchmarking
by determining possible issues within collected data or confirming its correctness
  • O&M teams at Ongoing O&M
by minimising operational costs by timely spotting sensor drift, damage, or misalignment early to improve the quality of their service and avoid penalties.
  • Technical advisors within Investor-performance reporting
by providing confirmation that the data they’re using is reliable for yield projections, due diligence, and financial decisions

With the growing need for bankable data and faster diagnostics, EKO is the first sensor manufacturer to combine world-class sensors with an intelligent data solution, supporting every stage of the PV lifecycle and setting a new standard for data reliability in the industry.

Advanced EKO Q data quality check methods help to find the answers for different types of questions asked by all kind of users: Can I trust my solar data? Are my sensors installed correctly? Which pyranometer data can represent my PV park? Are there undetected faults in long-term data sets?

Originally developed and optimized for high-end EKO's Instruments, EKO Q also supports data from any irradiance sensor compliant with ISO 9060 standards. Currently, EKO Q functions as a post-processing analysis tool for Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) measurement data from horizontally positioned sensors, as well as Global Tilted Irradiance (GTI) data from tilted solar sensor systems. It also utilizes sensor metadata such as class, model, location, elevation, timezone, tilt, orientation. Please note that real-time data and tracking systems are not supported at this stage.

Decades of sensor expertise, rigorous industry standards, modern physical models and ML methods allowed to build set of sophisticated checks for all around evaluation of data quality and sensors health:

  • Data integrity checks (gaps, frozen values, unrealistic readings)
  • Time alignment (sensor clock drift or misconfigured time zones)
  • Tilt and orientation accuracy
  • Shading impacts from surrounding terrain or obstructions
  • Sensitivity & linearity analysis
  • Ambient temperature influence
  • Long-term sensor drift

You can learn more information about basic usage scenarios in our step by step guides.

EKO Q analysis results are provided in the form of a report, which can be adapted into a simplified version for non-technical users or be presented in a complete format with in-depth technical findings, data visualizations, explanations for probable causes of data issues, and recommended preventive actions. Since uploading of advanced types of information such as: maintenance logs, weather conditions, or aerosol data is not yet supported, results may be unclear in some cases where the exact cause of an issue can't be identified.

Being a SaaS platform, EKO Q offers global accessibility, as long as the irradiance data and necessary metadata are uploaded. EKO Q follows strict data security protocols and adheres to international standards, including GDPR and other applicable data protection regulations. All data is encrypted during transfer and securely stored on certified cloud servers. EKO is committed to safeguarding your information at every stage of the service.
